The boat of Christmas. Learn. DIY. Step by step tutorial
I love the Christmas period which is the symbol of plenty, colors and emotions for me. However, I try to avoid the traditional color scheme of red-white-green and work in other color combinations. To make this table design even more contradictory, I created it in the modern and contemporary way. Christmas arrives at your home!
Suggested materials:
Lady’s Spider Orchids
Pincushions,
Calla Lilies
Pincushion Flower Pods
Nandina
Pine needles
One medium palm spathe
2-3 Small palm spathes
Hot glue
Chicken wire/ Bronze net
Wire 16 gauge
Bamboo Skewers
Paper covered wire
Clear Plastic Water tubes
Process:
Firstly, create “legs” for the palm spathe to provide the stability of the floral design. Drill 4 small holes (of the same diameter as the sticks you have ) into the palm spathe and hot-glue bamboo skewers wrapped with paper-covered wire into the holes. Cut each leg to whatever length is necessary to make the spathe level.
Construct a ‘screen’ in the center of the large spathe trough which to arrange pine needles. Create a 3-sided rectangular frame for the screen with 16-gauge wire. Make 2 pilot holes in the spathe with a nail or drill bit, and hot-glue the 2 vertical wires of the frame into the holes. Attach a piece of wire netting vertically to the frame.
Weave small groups of pine needles through the wire netting until the netting is completely covered and the pine needles appear to be standing freely.
Create an organic, rhythmic “system” of wires to support wire tubes and smaller palm spathes by wrapping 16-gauge wires with paper-covered wire and hot-gluing the ends into pilot holes you create in the large spathe with a nail or drill bit. Attach water tubes, in random placements, and small palm spathes to the wire system with paper-covered wire. Bend the wires of small palm spathes and with water tubes to bring the movement into the design.
Fill the water tubes with a flower-food solution, and arrange the flowers to continue the curvilinear lines and dynamic movement created by the wires and influenced by the shape of the large palm spathe.
